Sonic 4: Episode 1

back to the Sonic games

So... Back in 2011, SEGA started hyping up something named "Project Needlemouse". It ended up being "Sonic 4". They advertised it as the long-awaited sequel to Sonic 3&K, but it turned out to just be some shitty mobile game with no story that no one liked. This is that game. They made a episode 2 which is currently free on mobile, and that was a little better but still people generally didn't like it, so they cancelled making any more episodes. (If you want a real sequel to 3&K go play Sonic Mania.)

Then, in 2020, some person who goes by Wamwoowam decided to port it to web browsers for some reason and kept updating it. This is that version (it's based on an old release of the mobile version). It's not even hosted in my site, I'm sourcing it from his site, so, thank you for your work Wamwoowam! :)

To play on a bigger screen, go directly to his site.
Ignore the "tilt or touch controls" in options since that's for mobile. Use the mouse or touch to navigate the menus. In-game, move with the arrows, and use A, S or D to spin jump. The moves from the previous games (spin attack, spindash, looking up or down) still apply here, and also if you press A/S/D again after a jump you can do a Homing Attack.

You can get both episodes of Sonic 4 on Xbox or Steam. It's also on Android (it might not let you buy it on newer versions of Android, but Episode 2 is there for free) and iOS. And I think PS3.
Sonic the Hedgehog belongs to SEGA and if they want this down then I'll take it down. Same thing if Wamwoowam asks me to take it down.
