Sonic 3 Complete
back to the Sonic games
Sonic 3!! Who doesn't love it? This version is from the Sonic 3 Complete ROM hack, so it has some improvements over the original version. Credit to the S3C team!
When you load into the game it'll boot you straight to the title screen. However, if you wanna customize it a little further, hit the reset button on the emulator to go to the Sonic 3 Complete menu!
Note that Competition mode doesn't support online play yet. You'll have to set Player 2 controls on the emulator settings and play local.
It's really easy to play; it plays pretty similar to its predecessors. Here are the default controls:
- Enter: Start/pause
- Left/right arrow: Move
- Up/down arrow: Look up or down
- Z/X/S: Spin jump
- Z/X/S (with all Chaos/Super Emeralds + 50 rings): Transform into Super/Hyper
- Down arrow (while moving): Spin attack
- Down arrow (hold) + Z/X/S: Spindash (Press multiple times to rev it up, let go to dash)
- Up arrow (hold) + Z/X/S (as Sonic and Tails): Make Tails fly (jump into him afterwards to make Tails carry you)
- Z/X/S during a jump (as Sonic, with no shield): Instashield
- Z/X/S during a jump (as Sonic, with fire shield): Fireball
- Z/X/S during a jump (as Sonic, with bubble shield): Bounce
- Z/X/S during a jump (as Sonic, with electric shield): Double jump
- Z/X/S during a jump (as Tails): Fly (press repeatedly to fly higher)
- Z/X/S during a jump (as Knuckles, hold): Glide (if you glide into a wall, you can climb it with up and down arrow)
- In Carnival Night Zone, use the up and down arrows while standing on the spinning barrels to make them bounce up and down. You're welcome.
Feel free to customize the emulator controls though!
Anyways, if you want a better Sonic 3 experience, I recommend trying out Sonic 3 AIR. It's more modern, moddable, customizable, and it's available on PC and mobile! You can find the ROM file it requires online. You could also buy Sonic Origins on PC or consoles at $40, which comes with remasters of this, Sonic 1, Sonic 2 and Sonic CD, but that remaster is so-so.
Anyways, hope you enjoy this game and don't get crushed by the barrels of doom in Carnival Night.
"Sonic the Hedgehog" belongs to SEGA, and if they want this page taken down i will comply. If the Sonic 3 Complete team wants their ROM hack off my site, I will replace it with the unmodified version of the game.
